    A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck southern Peru, according to US seismologists. The quake's epicenter was located about 40 kilometers northwest of Upahuacho, at a depth of 66 kilometers. No immediate reports of casualties or damage have emerged. The tremor was felt in several regions, including Cusco and Arequipa. The local population evacuated and took shelter as a precaution.
