    Irish Grandad Begins Solo Global Sailing Challenge

    Pat Lawless, a 70-year-old grandfather from Kerry, has set off to compete in the challenging Golden Globe yacht race, aiming to be the first Irish person to complete it. This non-stop solo circumnavigation of the globe covers 30,000 nautical miles. Lawless previously abandoned the race in 2022 but is now well-prepared and hopes to raise €50,000 for Parkinson’s Ireland.
