    The UK's Met Office reports that Britain is on course for its warmest summer on record for the second consecutive year, with average temperatures already at 16.48C. Heat alerts are in effect across most of England as the country faces its fifth heatwave of the season. Drought conditions are affecting 71.3% of England, prompting health warnings.
