    Top 1% of Northern Ireland homes avoided £13 million in rates

    Approximately 8,000 of Northern Ireland's most valuable homes evaded over £13 million in rates last year, as average bills increased for others. The Maximum Capital Value cap, set at £400,000, has been in place since 2009, allowing high-value homes to pay the same rates as those worth less. Proposed changes to this cap have yet to be implemented.
