    Street preacher drops jail appeal after reflection

    Colin Houston, a street preacher, has abandoned his appeal against a five-month jail sentence for verbally abusing former Belfast deputy Mayor Paul Doherty. Houston was convicted of common assault, disorderly behavior, and resisting police after a confrontation at City Hall. Judge Natalie Pinkerton indicated his sentence could have been doubled if he had continued with the appeal.
