    A new blood test developed by researchers in Edinburgh and Germany can identify sepsis pathogens in about six hours, significantly faster than conventional methods that take two to seven days. This advancement could improve patient management and treatment decisions, as sepsis affects around 245,000 people annually in the UK, leading to approximately 48,000 deaths each year.
