    O'Callaghan Rejects Mediator for Legal Aid Dispute

    Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan has declined the Law Society's request for a mediator to resolve the ongoing dispute over the new criminal legal aid scheme. He stated that mediation is inappropriate as the High Court is set to rule on the matter next month. The new flat-fee scheme has led to significant disruptions in court hearings.
