    Medieval gold ring to be sold at auction

    A gold seal ring of Matilda, discovered by two metal detectorists in Suffolk on April Fool’s Day, is expected to fetch over £10,000 at auction. The ring, dating back to the 14th century, features a carnelian intaglio of a Griffin and may have belonged to Matilda of Lancaster. The auction is scheduled for September 22.
