    Peat Restoration Project Protects Against Flooding and Fire

    The National Trust has implemented an innovative scheme on Holcombe Moor, north of Manchester, to rewet peat and protect against wildfires and flooding. Over 3,000 scallop bunds have been created to capture rainwater, supporting wildlife and carbon storage. The project aims to restore peatland ecosystems and enhance resilience to climate change effects.
