    Fare Hikes Needed for Public Transport Services

    The National Transport Authority (NTA) has reported an €800m deficit in public transport funding due to falling revenue and rising costs. A 15% fare increase will take effect in January 2027, with adult fares in Dublin rising from €2 to €2.30. Despite increased passenger numbers, fare revenue has significantly declined since 2019.
