    A survey by WhatCar? reveals that over 5.5 million British drivers faced vehicle breakdowns in 2025, an increase of nearly 1.8 million from the previous year. Poor road conditions, particularly potholes, were significant contributors. Recovery services improved response times, with 61% of breakdowns addressed in under an hour, allowing 57% of drivers to continue their journeys.
